Happy for the weekend

I am so happy it is the weekend and I am off from both part time jobs. That is way cool indeed!
I got up this morning around 9:15 am after going to bed around 1:30 am. Katy and I captured Justin and we ran our errands and then went to eat at Cracker Barrell. While sitting next to an elderly couple I could not help but overhear the gentleman getting directions on the cell phone. He told whomever it was he was talking to that he was having a hard time hearing them and that after their meal that they would call them back from the car for further directions. I asked them if they were looking for something in particular in Charleston and they said that they were in town to visit their grand daughter who is a college student here locally. I asked them what the address was and then decided to go get the laptop out of the car and utilize the Street Atlas 2006 software to help them find their way.
The gentleman was thankful but told me that he did not want me interrupting my lunch to help him. I told him it was ok, I was waiting for the main course to arrive and in the mean time I could have fun killing some time by playing around with the new software. I am not that familiar with it yet and I figured this would give me a good excuse to help someone as well. I also told them that the reason that I had the toys I have was so that I could help others in need as well. I think that Katy rolled her eyes and the couple next to us laughed and asked Katy how many times she has heard that over the years. LOL... Anyway, address was found and they took copious notes and thanked me again and again for the assistance.
Once that was done we zoomed over to Mall drive to catch the new movie Flight Plan with Jodie Foster. On a scale of one to ten with 1 being "it sucked" and 10 being "it rocked" I would have to give the movie a 9. One of the reasons that I gave it a 9 and not a 10 is because there was no sex, violence or bad language. I mean, come on, how in the world can I give a movie without those qualities a 10? Someone would surely hunt me down and shoot me on the spot for that. LOL... Anyway, no, the movie was relatively safe to take kids too in my humble opinion. I am sure that others may disagree with me. I think that the rating is PG13. Of course, ten years ago PG13 was much safer to view vs now. Ten years ago a PG13 movie was consider X rated.
Ok, lets fast forward past happy nappy time to 6 pm whence I was jerked out of my orbit around Pluto by my friend zoom zoom. Zoom zoom lives in Mt Pleasant and was waking me from slumber to verify that I wanted to still consume massive quantities of wings and alcoholic beverages. At this point I was more in the mood for a cup of decaf coffee and french vanilla creamer but I did want to see zoom zoom so off I went in my sliver bullet to zoom over to Mt Pleasant. How many times can I use the word zoom in a sentence. LOL.
Once I arrived zoom zoom had already staked her claim to a table and was munching on some chips, cheese and salsa dip. We consumed more food than I should have eaten and even managed to save some carrot cake for Gizmo which of course I forgot in the mens restroom on the way out. Sigh... Sorry bout that gizmo...
Zoom zoom and I got into the silver bullet and I allowed her to be the navigator and use the laptop and the GPS device and Street Atlas software to find our way down to downtown Charleston and MUSC. I tried to show Patty (aka zoom zoom) how nifty the satellite radio is when it decided to not work. I am hopeful that the entire Sirius Satellite Network is having some technical difficulties since I could not pick up squat. I called the phone number or Sirius and could only get the automated prompts from voice hell. Push 1 for "we sorry the service is down and we might care" push 2 for " is the service really down, we did not know" and on and on the selections went with NO human to talk to. Go figure folks, more wonderful customer service. NOT. I think that at this point Sirius is having some SERIOUS problems. LOL
Speaking of customer service how happy can I be having become customers of Comcast Cable again. NOT. I paid my past due amount around the end of August and asked them what specials they were running. They told me " We are running a special for 29.95 for three months for digital cable, after that three months the digital subscripition will go to full price." I was thinking, ok, I just paid them for the installation and a month of service up front so that should take me to December of this year. I got my first bill from them and it was for 66.00 which is digital cable at the regular rate PLUS taxes.
I called customer service after picking myself up off the floor and asked for the billing department. I spoke with a lady who told me that utility companies always bill 30 days in advance to make sure that if someone stops paying for the service that they wont get screwed for a full month of service. I was also told that once I paid for the full month plus installation that the first bill always reflects the subscription rate at the regular charge (not the promotional charge) pro rated to however amount of days during the first month when it was turned on. So, I told the lady that was fine and good but that is not what I was sold nor was it what I agreed to. I agreed to paying 29.95 for 3 months PERIOD. I might as well have been talking to Barney at this point. You know, Barney the singing dinasour. I love you, you love me, we are all a happy family... NOT.... So, my friend zoom zoom told me this evening that I need to speak to the customer relations dept at Comcast and see if I can get past the front line billing clerks and get some sort of satisfaction. Wish me luck!!!!!

Does IM make U Dum by Martha Brockenbrough at Encarta

Check out this article, I thought it was most excellent.

Manual Labor

One day I am the Maytag repairman and the next day I am moving computers out of the training room to the storage area where they will be until the same time next year when employee surveys happen. I actually feel as if I earned part of my check today. LOL... It was no big deal, 8 computers to disconnect with all of the network cables, power cables, keyboards and mice. It took me all of one hour to do. Woooohoooo
Now what?? I think that the doughnut I ate at 9:30 am was pretty much vaporized so now I am receiving signals from my stomach saying that it thinks my throat has been cut. This is my partners last day in Charleston and Saturday he will be catching an airframe to Arkansas to reunite with his family there. He has been living in a hotel room for the last two weeks so I know he will be excited to be home at last. I plan on dragging my partner in crime to lunch here shortly.
The weather is sort of dreary outside but the cold front that was supposed to descend upon us has not arrived yet. I can not wait until we can turn the AC off and open up doors and windows. Our light bill has been running between 250.00 and 300.00 per month which has really been putting holes in my piggy bank.
I am so pumped up about being off this weekend. I have not had a weekend off in about a month now. The month of September has been tied up in the Gulf Coast region and then back home working security on the weekends. So, I rearranged my schedule to work security on Wed - Friday nights and be off from both jobs on the weekend. Of course I have this weekend off and my bride has an inservice she has to go to as a teacher in Summerville. That just bites.
Did I say that the Dallas Cowboys (aka cowgirls) actually won their Sunday game and now their record is 2-1 in the NFC East standings. Somehow I just do not understand how they always seem to win when I do not watch the games. Maybe I should save up my pennies for a Tivo and just record the game and then when I hear that they won I can watch the game that was recorded earlier? I have fond memories of my father and I watching the Dallas Cowboys (aka Gods' Team) on TV. I remember watching them on a small black and white TV in Leesville Louisiana back in 1969. When the Cowboys would fall behind or look like they were losing the game my dad and I would break out the checker board and we would play non stop checkers until Dallas came from behind to win. Somehow that seems to help the infamous "cardiac cowboys".

Free Christian Wallpaper & Screensavers

http://postman180.tripod.com/wallpaperreligious.html
Go to the link above for FREE Christ related wallpaper and screensavers for your computer. Personally I prefer Webshots for my desktop themes. However, you may find yourself in a situation , such as work, where Webshots is a forbidden software package and you are stuck with the gross Windows default schemes for your desktop. I do not know about you but I stare at a monitor way too much to be stuck looking at the same ole thing day in and day out. I need, I must have variety... KWIM??

Also remember to view my favorite links on the left hand side at the bottom to see what I have added lately. Katy's and Jeremy's blog is listed there so you are not stuck just reading all of my drivel all the time. OK ?
Have a good day!!

Chief Propellerhead on duty

Today is the day that the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it!! I am happy to be alive and six feet above ground today, what about you? I am happy that I have a family that loves me a church to attend and close friends that I can hang out with. I am glad that God loves me despite of myself and my many imperfections. You know the saying, God is not finished with me or you yet. So, hang in there, things are just gonna get better. Amen? I can say this because I have been on both sides of the mountain. I have been in the valley next to the mountain and I have been on the top of the mountain. When you are in the valley it sort of sucks but atleast it is a place where you can look up and know that it wont last forever. In the valley is where you learn those things that you need to learn. In the valley you find yourself stripped of all self assurance, arrogance and pride and control. You find yourself in a position of self examination, reflection and prayer. When we are in that place that is where God can reach us the best.
I am happy that I have a couple of part time jobs. Sure, I would rather have things differently such as a full time job doing what I want to do making what I want to make but maybe that is just a self inflicted delusion that I torture myself with from time to time. LOL. Hey, I am working 40 hours a week and have two paychecks coming in. I can remember a time when I had nothing coming in at all. That time was not too long ago too.
Today, I have been able to take the Maytag Repairman hat off and put on my Chief Propellerhead hat on. Jay and I have a laptop rebuild, pc and phone move and I just got a call to reset a pssword for one of the users on the network. Wooohoooo , nothing like actually earning the pay check aye? hhahahahaha
I have three more days and Jay will be in Arkansas and I will be here by my little lonesome. Actually, I have Jay online via Yahoo IM and cell phone if I get into a jam. There are so many things to learn here. For those of you that know me, I am not Tim the Toolman. I have a box of tools sure but most of them have not even been touched or gotten dirty. In the next six months , if I survive that long , I will be getting an education on how a machine shop works and how all the systems work within the shop. It will be interesting to see how technology has been integrated into making parts and tools for different things. Print Article
