Mobil Blogging

If you are subscribed to my VOX blog you can tell I have thoroughly enjoyed having the ability to do some mobile blogging or moblogging in the last several weeks with my Blackberry Pearl.  I love the ability to take pictures while I am running around doing this and that and  I can share them with you on the fly by just sending them via e-mail to my Vox blog at http://chiefpropellerhead.vox.com

I guess that you can tell that I  am sort of fond of VW Beetles and that I take a LOT of pictures of that particular brand of car.  That mostly has to do with the fact that my friend "zoom zoom" owns one and every time I see one it reminds me of hers.  When Katy and I are out together we play punchbug when we see a VW Beetle going down the road or parked somewhere.

I also like to take pictures of pretty stuff in nature like flowers and wildlife.   I have been able to take some pictures of flowers at the College of Charleston where I work and I even got some pictures of a hawk that found a squirrel for lunch.  The only problem with taking pictures of wildlife is that you have to get close enough to get a good picture with the telephone on my blackberry.  The telephone camera does have a 4x digital zoom but that only does good for relatively close shots.  I have a DVR that has a very nice digital camera however it is much bulkier than my telephone to carry around and so that means most of the time when I see something I want to snap a picture of I wind up using the phone.

The summer is drawing to a close and before we know it the kids will be going back to school.  Kristina will be starting high school in the 9th grade and Justin in the 6th grade in middle school.  As much as I love the dear children and I am sure as much as  they love me I think Katy and I are ready for some separation during the day.  Katy has been bonding with the children this summer since she is in between teaching jobs and  I think they are driving her batty.

I am into my 6th week of exercise and trying to lose some weight.  I lost 7 lbs immediately and then put 2 of them back on.  I have been going to the gym every other day and spending 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer and getting a good solid aerobic workout.  I then go downstairs to the weight machines and do repetitions with light weights.   I want to tone what muscle I have but I do not want to bulk up since muscle weighs more than fat.  At least that is what I have been told. I am hoping that part of this plateu with the weight is my converting fat cells to muscle cells.  I have been attempting to keep my calories down to below 2000 every day.  When I am at work I can stay busy and do real well with my calorie intake during breakfast and lunch.  At night time I find myself struggling a bit with wanting to snack.  I have a bowl of sun flower seeds next to my recliner and when I get the urge to stick something in my head I start eating those.

The other day someone told me that they have not seen any really fat old people.  That got my attention and I decided that I have between the ages of 45 and 50 to get this excess blubber off of me and keep it off.  I have been looking around for some overweight OLD people and I have not seen anyone that fits that description.  I guess that means that that category of people do not exist thanks to either heart attacks for strokes.  That is what is in my immediate future if I do not get serious about this weight problem folks.  I can no longer use the excuse that I am not working out because I can not find anyone that will motivate me.  If I can not motivate myself to take better care of myself then who in the world would be more motivated than I ?  I told my doctor the other day that I was going to either lose weight or die trying.  I laughed when I said it to him but I am dead serious.

Thus far  the benefits of gettng more exercise have been good.  I can sleep better at night when I go to bed.  I have more energy during the day and I can handle stress better at work.    Even though I have not lost a lot of weight yet I still feel better about myself knowing that I am taking posession of the problem and taking action on my own.  My self confidence is a little bit  higher knowing that I am not giving in to be slothful and lethargic.  I know that I did not get this weight on over night and so it wont come off overnight as well. My goal is to be faithful to going to the gym and walking in my neighborhood and I believe that in the long run my metabolism will start to burn the extra calories and allow the weight to start dropping off.  My goal is to lose one or two pounds per week if possible.
