Memorial day to remember

Guess what we did this afternoon? At approximately 3:15 or 3:30 I heard a short siren outside and shouting voices. Come to find out one of our neighbors trailer and shed burned to the ground. The rumor is that the shed caught fire first which was what I saw and then the wind blew the fire into the woods and trailer next to it. There is a couple with a new born baby that did get out in time. The shed and trailer however are gone. My friend Chuck and I had to hook up a couple of water hoses to keep one of the trailers near us from catching on fire. The roof was on fire and the back of it near a propane bottle. We kept the propane bottle soaked and the side of the trailer we could reach. Apparently the only water the fire trucks could use was the water they pumped into their tanks at the end of Mapleridge drive. That means all they had was one truck and one hose to handle three buildings that were on fire. How special is that? The back bedroom to our neighbors house burned up but they saved the rest of the trailer. They disconnected the power cables to both trailers and then cut the power back on just a few moments ago. Yes, believe it or not, I drug out the Digital Video camera and caught 30 minutes of the fiasco on a DVD RAM. The rural fire dept was the one who responded first and then finally Goose Creek Fire Dept was called in. All I can say is I am glad that no one was injured other than maybe some smoke inhalation and it appears that everyone involved will have a place to stay for the interim.
